Appearance
Hermes generally carries out the pattern for most male grey wolves coming into their prime- larger in shape with a broad body and lither limbs for faster movement; his pelt is a mixture of tawny browns, metallic greys and crispy whites which intertwine and dance together in both intricate and blunt patterns, making his pelt the almost average variation of his race. The only difference comes from intervention after gaining an element on his travels more accidentally then being born into them like some of the wolves he has stumbled across. Having gained the metallic element his body took on it’s protective functions and generated a whole new layer of ‘skin’ made from a combination of metals that give it the same strength that Wolverine’s adamantium does in the popular comics.
The metal has sprouted mainly in three places- on the underside of his muzzle and neck, his stomach and the lower parts of his legs. This gives him strength in areas that would otherwise have been incredibly vulnerable in natural circumstances. The metal upon his neck is plated in ways similar to what you would find on an armadillo- several plates overlapping in harmony to make is hard to reach his skin, if natural fur is still in abundance there. On the lower section of his maw he has a plate that covers under his ‘chin’ and maps to the tip of his jaw to lap over onto the edges of what on a human would be his cheeks. On his stomach it’s also in plates, though these do not overlap and are fixed on most like a jigsaw to allow him mobility; his legs have a straight plate on the bottoms, which are wrapped around like anklets but remain attached to his limbs.
Personality
Hermes takes after the god counter-part on which he was named, shrewd and often cunning, he’s down to earth and a fast thinker, never allowing time to dawdle. He often jumps around with seeming impatience and erratically because of the speed in which he can envisage things, often this isn’t far from the truth, if feeling particularly inspired Hermes will not stop to think of all the components he needs for his calculations to work and may fall short. Like his personality, his main gift is speed, having the added metallic outer frame on his body only helps to make him stronger and more resistant to most come backs of physical activity, as his history required. Naturally he’s got an abrasive personality; he tends to disagree simply to disagree rather then because he has opposing views. He can also be surprisingly charming to wards those of any gender- to be honest; he has no personal choice- when he chooses so.
From his upbringing he has always been creative and methodically evil when he so acquires, those from his pack were raised from an early age to be tactile and able to slip through the protection of others. He has a good eye for detail and spotting those little things others may miss, as well as an astonishing memory.
Elemental Prowess
Hermes’ element does little more then protect, though this is by far enough. As well as the additional body plating he’s also discovered the other qualities his new elemental gifts can generate. The first things he can initiate with most ease are metal teeth and claws upon his feet, though these are not so extreme, he can will up a coating onto his teeth and ‘claws’ for protection, which can make him and almost dangerous enemy if used precisely. When taken to the extreme this can mean completely replacing his teeth with renewed, purely metal, ones- thanks to his talents, he’s acquired a habit some what like a shark, where he can replace as many teeth as he wants, though this may take time. It’s helpful when he wants a good set of chompers.
Second initiation is coating his body in more plates almost simultaneously; they fold out like a cover from a car from seeming nothingness. In actual fact they grow from out under his skin in rapid growth triggered by hormones from natural glands. These plates are not permanent and aren’t as strong as those on legs or underneath his body, though they are resistant to all matter of forces. When discarded they simply drop off, much like a child discarding a toy. These are mainly limited to his face and spine, so his sides are not always protected.
The third talent is more for escape, when needed to the permanent plates can be loosed and dropped away, though this can take several minutes. When these drop away they shatter like glass, causing a distraction and a threat, having metal shards trapped inside paws and skin is much worse then glass and far more painful. This also allows him to run faster then he would do when the metal is attached, though they grow back after ten minutes and the skin which they were resting on remains tougher then the norm.
History
Hermes was born under the leader of a pack known as ‘The Olympians’, the youngest of four siblings but by far the quickest and most intelligent. As he grew he became aware of the perils in which he lived far faster then the adults realised, The Olympians where a rogue pack off sprang from one known as ‘The Titans’. The Titans were the ruling pack for the area, dominating on a large piece of land probably larger then a state in America. The Olympians had descended from this pack, but had gone against them, wanting separate power and not receiving it. When Hermes and is siblings finally hit their early adult hood he learnt that it was their paternal figure’s plan to over throw the larger, more powerful pack and take control.
When Hermes was accepted as a true adult this happened, the males of the pack were either killed or forced into submission by the younger males of The Olympians. The females seemed not to care, there were plenty of them in fresh supply and it was by far clear that breeding and continuing the lines would be of no problem. But something wasn’t right… It soon became clear when the ex-alpha female spilled the beans. The four pups that The Titans had been depending upon have both run away in short succession, first Metis, who had been depended upon to rule the pack as the new alpha female, then Hasna, who had been planned as a gift to the neighbouring back, Yakunan, future ruler and then, last of all, Sauda, a promise for another pack as a future mate for their ‘prince’.
Zeus, Hermes’ father, sent out a pack of wolves to find the four, wanting to bring them in and declare his ultimate control. Hermes was set out with his uncle, Hades, to reclaim the one known as Yakunan. On the journey, how ever, then ran into the young wolf and managed to capture him, allowing another team to return him home for his grisly fate. Both Hermes and Hades were then given the order to find new packs, on their way to this land they split up in order to travel further and reach two packs. Hermes chose to come to this one.
He gained his element on his journey alone, where he became the unlucky victim of a collision with a truck. Instead of killing him- how ever- the metal he gained from the trucks parts made him adapt.
