Shiroi lay in the field, resting, after a long day. The grass was tall, and she couldn't be seen. Sort of. Shiroi's spirit was above her, letting those who wanted to find her know where she was. She yawned tiredly and quietly fell asleep. ((Shiroi's dream is in italics))
Fire. There was fire everywhere, and it was all the fault of the two-legged ones. Shiroi had seen them, she and her sister, Kuroi Karasu. They had smelt the unusual scent of two-leg in their mother's terra, and had gone to investigate. Those stupid two-legs. They had barged right in to Kurai-Kaze terra and lit a fire! Not only that, but there was all sorts of a mess there. They had managed to contain the fire whilst they were there, but didn't bother to put it out when they left. It was all thanks to them. Screaming. The flames licking the walls of their home, surrounding them. The entrance to the cavern was blocked by flame. Kana, their mother, was trying her best to protect Shiroi and Kara's other siblings from the flames. "Mother!" Kara screamed. Shiroi and Kara ran to their mother, rather as close as they could get. There was no way for Kana and the other pups to get out. "Shiroi, Kara, leave here! Run away, get out of Kurai-Kaze terrain. Get away from the fire!" Kana screamed. The flames were coming closer now, closer to her and Shiroi's other siblings. "Run! Both of you, go now! Run and don't come back!" Shiroi and Kara took off, dodging the flaming branches that fell in their way. Behind them, they heard the horrific screams of terror and pain that came from the cave. Kara fell. Shiroi tried to help her sister get up. "Go Shiroi. I'll find a way out. You can't wait for me!" Kara yelled to her smaller sibling. "But-" Shiroi started. Kara glared at her, and she ran. "Kara..." Shiroi though. "I hope you're okay..." Shiroi kept running. She didn't stop until she was clear of the fire. It was only then that she turned back, hoping to see her sister's form emerge from the flames. Shiroi waited for hours as the fire raged on. The only thing she saw was an impenetratable wall of fire. Nothing more. Shiroi waited there until the fires died down to a smoldering nothingness. It was then that she left. Shiroi didn't need to see the scorched carcasses of her mother and siblings. She knew. Shiroi hung her head and slowly left Kurai-Kaze territory behind... forever.
Shiroi twitched slightly, and her spirit form let out a mournful howl. She slept on.
